Mindfulness Meditation

The fast-paced nature of our world often leads us to have feelings of profound stress and anxiety. Intimately related to such feelings are the states of being overwhelmed, disconnected, and deeply unsatisfied. Mindfulness becomes a way of being that helps address these feelings of untenable discomfort in our lives.

Dana (By Donation) Meditation Class: All Levels - No Reservations Required

Classes will consist of guided meditations followed by a short discussion. The types of meditations will be mindfulness based as well as Vipassana style. The discussion piece of the class is intended to provide support, encouragement, and an avenue for questions related to meditative practice. This class is intended to support both the beginning and more advanced practitioner, and is taught by teacher Brett Enlow.

The meditation class at the Shala is not being offerred at this time. Instead we would like to direct you to the following class. Please check back in the fall for our class.

What is Mindfulness?

Paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally, as if your life depended on it.

Why would anyone want to engage in mindfulness?
Outcome studies of people who practice mindfulness have shown that they experience:
1. Increased patience
2. Are less reactive and more responsive
3. Develop increased levels of self-compassion
4. Develop a deeper inner wisdom
5. Develop a greater sense of ease of well-being.

Here is an example of a 20 minute Guided Meditation led by Brett.
