They first found yoga during their undergrad years as a psychology major, taking classes in mindfulness meditation and compassion focused therapy. Seeking a more spiritual path to body wellness, and a more embodied path to mental wellness they dove into yoga wholeheartedly after pursuing a path of sobriety from alchohol in 2015. During their journey of mental health treatment for bipolar disorder and PTSD, Fitz discovered kundalini yoga and other lineages as a supplemental treatment that took them from being not sick, to being truly well. Fitz is passionate about helping others find the wholeness that was always within them and is pursuing a career as a yoga therapist and mental health counselor through the Breathing Deeply yoga therapy program and the Masters of Social Work Program at Tulane University.

Fitz Emerald’s teaching style focuses on accessibility for all bodies and genders and often incorporates spiritual elements of bhakti yoga (devotional practice) and energetic education. An activist and advocate they seek to create community and peace through yogic education and advocating for social justice in and out of the studio. They hold community by donation classes and see private clients for one on one yoga lessons, yoga prescriptions, and reiki healing experiences, sliding scale. (For more information contact them at
