Beginner Yoga is designed for those who have never practiced yoga, those who have been away from their practice, or those who wish to return to the basics of alignment. Each class focuses on foundations, stability, strength building, and breathing, to give newcomers and experienced yogis alike a comprehensive knowledge of asana (yoga poses). Beginner yoga also focuses on the philosophical and spiritual practice of yoga, offering unfamiliar aspects of the 8 Limbs of Yoga in bite-sized, beginner-appropriate format.
While we offer a beginners course, if you are in pretty good health without major physical limitations, many Shala classes and instructors offer modifications for beginners. We have a few classes that are great for new comers to yoga who might be a little reluctant to just jump into any class or may need some special attention for any existing conditions or injuries. These classes are Yin, Mindful Body, Soma Flow, Slow Flow with Breath, and Hot Core. While some of these may be a more challenging workout, they are carefully instructed with alignment as a clear focus to guide any beginner. If you are still unsure as to what you should practice, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can assist you further.
