Judy Sugg

Judy Sugg PhD, RYT 500

Judy has been practicing yoga since 1981, and teaching since 1992. She has studied different styles (Iyengar, Ashtanga, Tri-yoga), which she incorporates into her teaching. Her primary teachers were Bobbi Goldin in Miami , Shari Hamik Friedrichsen in Washington & California , and  Dave Oliver in Phoenix . She completed Teacher Trainings with Sherry Friedricksen and Holiday Johnson in Portland , assisted Holiday for over a year with her university classes, and attended teacher trainings with Kali Ray. Judy has taught yoga in studios, corporations, hospitals, schools, health facilities, non-profits, and governmental agencies. She developed and taught two yoga teacher trainings in Phoenix , and has taught in four other training programs. In 2007 she completed her doctoral studies in psychology, focusing on psychological aspects of Yoga Sutras and Samkhya Karikas. She recently coauthored a book chapter on yoga psychology and the Samkhya metaphysic. Judy is a licensed counselor, adjunct faculty, and is working on a research and writing project in the area of compulsive behavior.
